11.11 and 12.12 content ideas for Malaysian SMEs
Double-day sales aren’t just for online marketplaces. Here’s how Malaysian cafes, salons and shops can use the 11.11 and 12.12 buzz on TikTok and Instagram without slashing prices on everything.
Every year, 11 November and 12 December arrive with a wave of "11.11 sale!" and "promosi 12.12" posts. If you run a cafe in Bangsar, a salon in Ipoh or a gift shop in Johor Bahru, it can feel like the whole country is shopping, and you're not part of it.
The good news: you don't need a marketplace store or a huge discount to join the conversation. People are already in a deal-hunting, treat-yourself mood around these dates. With a bit of planning, you can turn that attention into visits, bookings and orders, on your terms.
In 2026, 11.11 falls on a Wednesday and 12.12 on a Saturday. If you're reading this in early November, you still have time for 11.11, and plenty of time to do 12.12 properly.
Why 11.11 and 12.12 matter even if you don't sell online
Double-day sales started as online shopping events, but the habit has spread. Around these dates, people:
- Look for deals and gift ideas, both online and nearby.
- Scroll more promo content on TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.
- Plan year-end treats and gifts, especially as 12.12 runs into Christmas, school holidays and year-end gatherings.
You don't have to compete on price with big online sellers. Your advantage is being local, personal and real. The aim is to show up in that mood with something worth stopping for.
Not everything needs a discount. Good double-day offers for small businesses include:
- A limited bundle (for example, an "11.11 brunch set" or a "12.12 hair + treatment combo").
- A free add-on instead of a price cut (a drink, a mini product, a gift wrap).
- Early access or a booking slot for followers only.
- A gift card or voucher that customers can buy now and use later.

Content ideas for your own channels
These formats work on TikTok, Instagram Reels and Stories, and can be shot on a phone.
Before the day: build anticipation
- "Something's coming on 11.11" teaser: a close-up of the new set, bundle or packaging, without revealing everything.
- Countdown Stories: a simple daily Story with a countdown sticker, so followers get a reminder.
- Behind the scenes: prepping stock, testing a new menu item, wrapping gift sets. People like seeing the work.
- "Which one should we do?" poll: let followers vote on the bundle or the free add-on. It builds interest and tells you what they want.
On the day: make it easy to act
- "Here's the deal in 10 seconds" video: what it is, how long it lasts, how to get it (walk in, book, order on WhatsApp, or your online store).
- Pinned post and Story highlight with the offer, opening hours and location.
- Live check-ins: a quick "it's busy in here!" clip or a "last few sets left" Story, but only if it's true.
After the day: keep the momentum
- Thank-you post with real customer photos (with permission).
- "Missed 11.11? 12.12 is coming" teaser, to carry interest into December.
- Reviews: ask happy customers to leave a Google review while the visit is fresh.
Write in your customers' language
If your customers mix BM, English and Chinese, so should your captions. A short BM line like "Promosi 11.11 sampai hujung minggu!" or a Chinese caption next to the English can feel more natural than one long English paragraph. Keep the key details (dates, price, how to buy) clear in every version.
Creator and micro-KOL ideas
Creators can bring your double-day offer to people who don't follow you yet. If you're new to this, our step-by-step guide to working with micro-KOLs in Malaysia covers finding, briefing and measuring.
For 11.11 and 12.12 specifically:
- Book early. Popular local creators get busy around double-day sales and the year-end. Reach out at least two to three weeks ahead, if you can.
- Give them something to show, not just a code. A creator trying your new set or getting the salon combo makes a better video than reading out a discount.
- Use creator-specific codes or a "mention this video" offer, so you can see which creator brought people in.
- Mix creator sizes. A few micro-KOLs (10k to 100k followers) alongside smaller nano-KOLs can give you reach and a range of content to test.
- Ask for usage rights up front, so you can reuse their content in your own posts and ads through to 12.12.
- Disclose clearly. Paid or gifted posts should be labelled upfront with words like "Ad" or "Sponsored", as set out in the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Content Code 2022 (Part 3, paragraph 6.3).
If you'd rather not manage creators yourself, Mojo Nation's one-month KOL trial is RM10,000 and covers 15 creators (10 nano, 5 micro) across Instagram, TikTok and Xiaohongshu (XHS). Light ad boosting is included; larger ad budgets are billed separately. Terms and conditions apply.
Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop: lives and promo timing
If you also sell on a marketplace, the double days are when many shoppers are actively browsing. Each platform runs its own campaign rules, sign-up deadlines and fees, so check your seller centre for the current details rather than relying on last year's.
A few practical points:
- Know the timing. Sales often start at midnight, and many shoppers check in early on the day. Have your listings, vouchers and stock ready the day before.
- Plan your lives. A short, well-prepared livestream beats a long, unplanned one. Pick two or three products, show them properly, answer questions and repeat the offer for people who join late.
- Make product videos that explain. Show what's in the box, how it's used and who it's for. Clear demos help people decide.
- Match your social posts to your store. If your TikTok video says "link in bio" or "in our TikTok Shop", make sure the product and price there match.
- Don't forget walk-in customers. If you have a shop, mention your store offer in-store, and your in-store offer online.

Mojo Nation creates content for sellers, such as product videos and creator content. Marketplace store management and affiliate programmes are handled through our partner agencies, not in-house.
Using AI tools to save time (carefully)
AI writing and design tools can help a small team move faster during a busy season:
- Caption drafts: ask for three versions of a caption in English, BM and Chinese, then edit them so they sound like you.
- Content calendars: get a first draft of a two-week posting plan, then adjust it for your stock and staff.
- Idea lists: brainstorm bundle names or video hooks.
Two cautions. First, always check facts, prices and dates yourself, as AI tools can get details wrong. Second, keep real photos and videos of your actual products and space at the centre. Customers want to see what they'll really get.
It's also worth remembering that AI assistants are increasingly where people ask "where can I get a good deal near me?" Keeping your website, Google Business Profile and opening hours up to date helps them understand your business. We cover this in how to get your business recommended by ChatGPT.
A simple 11.11 and 12.12 timeline
You can use this as a checklist. If 11.11 is already close, compress the first two steps into a few days.
Three to four weeks before
- Decide your offer: bundle, add-on, early access or voucher.
- Shortlist and contact creators.
- Plan your content: teasers, on-the-day posts, after-sale posts.
One to two weeks before
- Brief creators and agree deliverables, timing, usage rights and disclosure.
- Shoot your own content in one or two sessions.
- Update your website, Google Business Profile, hours and menu or price list. Not sure what needs fixing? Our free audit checks this for you.
- If you sell online, set up listings, vouchers and stock.
The week of
- Post teasers and countdown Stories.
- Creators post their content.
- Prepare your team: who answers DMs, WhatsApp and comments.
On the day
- Post your "deal in 10 seconds" video and pin it.
- Go live, if you're doing lives.
- Reply quickly to messages and comments.
After
- Thank customers and share real photos.
- Ask for Google reviews.
- Note what worked: which posts, creators and offers brought people in. Use it for 12.12, then for CNY.

Common mistakes to avoid
- Discounting everything. It trains customers to wait for sales. Pick one or two offers.
- Announcing on the day only. People need a few reminders before they act.
- Confusing offers. If it takes more than a sentence to explain, simplify it.
- Forgetting the basics. Wrong hours or an old menu on Google can undo good content.
- Skipping disclosure on creator posts. It protects your brand and the creator.
FAQ
Do I need to sell on Shopee or Lazada to join 11.11?
No. Many small businesses use the double-day buzz for walk-in offers, bookings, WhatsApp orders or gift vouchers. The key is a clear offer and content that reaches people where they're already scrolling.
Is it too late to plan for 11.11?
Not if you keep it simple: one offer, a few teaser posts and an on-the-day video. Use what you learn to plan 12.12 properly.
Should I do the same offer for 11.11 and 12.12?
You can, but a fresh angle for 12.12 often works better. As it sits closer to Christmas and the year-end, gift sets, vouchers and treat-yourself offers can fit well.
How many creators should I work with for a double-day campaign?
For a first campaign, we suggest around 15 creators, mixing nano-KOLs and micro-KOLs. That gives you enough content to compare what works while staying manageable. If that's too many to handle in-house, start smaller and build from what works.
Do sponsored or gifted creator posts need to be labelled?
Yes. The Content Code 2022 calls for clear, upfront labels such as "Ad" or "Sponsored", in the same language as the content, and in the video itself, not only the caption.
